Bobcats ousted by No. 6-ranked Paw Paw

The Brandywine soccer season came to an unceremonious end Wednesday night with a 6-0 loss to the No. 6-ranked Redskins of Paw Paw High School in second round action of the Division 3 District Tournament.
The Redskins’ superstar duo comprised of brothers David and Steven Magallon powered Paw Paw’s high-octane offense with four goals (two apiece) and drove the Redskins to a staggering 27-1 advantage in the “shots-on-goal” category.
Senior Bobcat goaltender Brock Hartline gave every ounce of effort and energy with which his body afforded him, stopping 21-of-27 shots he faced, but in the end, Paw Paw’s all out assault on the pitch proved to be too much for one net-minder, or team for that matter, to endure.
Though his team had misfortune of ending its season in such a gruesome fashion, Brandywine coach Evan Winkler said that he couldn’t be any prouder of his young team’s resiliency and resolve throughout the course of a 6-15 season.
“There were many stretches throughout the season where it would’ve been easy for these guys to quit, but they never did. We had a four game win-streak and in what was probably the biggest accomplishment of our season. We upended a pretty good Buchanan team,” he said.
“We’re still a relatively young team, you know, we only had three seniors, and with the heart I saw out of these guys this year, there is definitely a bright future in store for us.”
