Three-peat for Bobcats in Lakeland tennis
Published 9:15 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2013
For the third consecutive year, the Brandywine tennis team is champions of the Lakeland Conference.
Much has changed in those three years as far as how the league is configured, but the Bobcats have been a consistent winner no matter who made up the Lakeland Conference.
This year Brandywine scored 21 points on its way to the championship. Bridgman was second with 17 points and Buchanan third with 10 points.
The Bobcats captured six of the eight flights, including a sweep of the singles championships to post the victory.
“It’s a great feeling to win three in a row after going through the growing pains of my first 3-4 years coaching tennis,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “From never winning one to this… wow. I was proud of all my kids because I think they all battled all day even the two losses we had.
“It’s a testament to the kids and my assistant coaches and all the hard work to improve all year to this point and use this as a stepping stone to compete at the regional to get us to state.”
