James Zablocki of Granger, Ind. and Jason Schmidt of Niles were the winners of the first two weeks of the Leader Publications Football Blitz.

Zablocki was the lucky winner of a pair of Notre Dame football tickets for its upcoming game against Oklahoma Sept. 28 at Notre Dame Stadium.

Zablocki is a first-time player in the UPickem contests.

Zablocki is a Michigan fan, but is looking forward to seeing the Sooners in South Bend.

“It was an excellent start, I was quite surprised,” Zablocki said.

Schmidt wins his choice of a large pizza from either the Wounded Minnow in Dowagiac or Pizza Transit in Niles.

In the Leader Publications Pro Football Contest, Jenny Howell Yarbrough was the Week 1 winner. Yarbrough, from Niles, is unfortunately an employee of Leader Publications and is ineligible to win the pair of Notre Dame-Oklahoma tickets.

Second place finisher Pamela Gohn of Cassopolis is the lucky winner of the Notre Dame tickets.

The second and third place finishers in both contests receive a large pizza from either the Wounded Minnow or Pizza Transit.

There is still plenty of time to get in on the fun.

This contest is completely local, so you will be competing against friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. You can even set up your own leagues and compete against people you know from around the country. The more people you get to compete, against the more fun you will have.

 

Here is how you play:

Each week you will pick the winners of 10 games. There will also be a tiebreaker that allows you to predict the final score of one of those games.

For each correct pick you earn five points. The person who correctly picks the tiebreaker gets 10 points.

There will be a grand prize at the end of the college football regular season.
