Dog party in South Bend

It’s time once again for South Bend’s favorite dog party.
The 2nd Annual Ugly Dog Contest is ready to roll… and this time it’s not just for the homely pups.
This popular event takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. June 7 with registration from 5 to 7 p.m.
It is being presented by Ugly Dog Media and is all part of June’s Downtown South Bend First Friday theme, Downtown DOGtown.
Just bring your loyal beasts over to the Gridiron in front of the old Football Hall of Fame, sign them up for their appropriate categories, and let the good times off the chain.
Prize sponsors this year include Imagine That, Made in Michiana, Artcraft Printers, Fresh Dog, The South Bend Silver Hawks, South Bend Chocolate Company and Drewrys Beer. Yes, the Ugliest Dog still takes home the grand prize, but there are awards for several other categories this year as well. These include: Adult’s Cutest Dog, Child’s Cutest Dog, Dog Who Looks Most Like its Owner, Best Trick, Cutest Puppy, Most Unusual Markings, Most Beautiful, Most Handsome Male, and Mr. and Ms. Congeniality.
If you have a pooch that paws the bill for any of these, come out June 7 at 7 p.m. on the gridiron in front of the former Football Hall of Fame and join the fracas.
Registration is free at the booth starting at 5 p.m. For more information, check the First Friday website at dtsbfirstfridays.com or check out Ugly Dog Media’s Facebook page at uglydogmedia.com. Just remember, all dogs are invited — no matter if they are debonair, drab or drooling.
The former College Football Hall of Fame is located at 111 S. St. Joseph St., South Bend, Ind.
