Deer crash injures driver

CASSOPOLIS — A Detroit woman was injured Wednesday evening when a deer went through her windshield on M-51, just south of Saddlebred Lane in Pokagon Township.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled the crash at 6:05 p.m. Dec. 26.
The driver, identified as Lamya Shareff, 20, of Detroit, was southbound on M-51 when a deer hit by a northbound vehicle went through her windshield.
Also in the vehicle was Leslie Huffman, 54, of Cassopolis.
Shareff was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment of her injuries.
Pokagon Fire and Pride Care ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
Seat belts were worn at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
