God’s Wearhouse, Hope United Methodist Church of Edwardsburg’s clothing ministry, reopens Aug. 27.
Volunteers have worked many months reconstructing where the laundry was in the Ham shopping center for the Wearhouse, which offers free clothing for families in need and works in tandem with Edwardsburg Food Pantry at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Robin Emenaker, HUMC’s care/prayer coordinator, said Friday the ministry has been closed for about a year. It previously operated in the Adamsville church which became home to Barn Swallow Theatre.
The Wearhouse’s new location is across the parking lot from G.W. Jones Bank on M-62, a block south of Taco Bell.
Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., same as the food pantry, a collaboration by the Methodist, Catholic and Presbyterian churches operated entirely by volunteers.
Donations of good, clean, used winter women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, shoes and boots will be accepted during open hours.
No housewares or furniture are accepted.
Hope United Methodist Church is located at 69941 Elkhart Road.
Emenaker said there will be a grand opening following in September.
