The community of Cassopolis and Diamond Lake will get a little closer at 8 a.m. Saturday when residents take part in a 3.5-mile CommUnity Walk aimed at bringing neighbors and friends together.
The walk, expected to last about 45 minutes, will begin at Mahogany Outfitters Boat and Car Museum, 980 E. State St., in Cassopolis.
Winding throughout the village of Cassopolis and Diamond Lake, walkers will get the chance to chat with fellow residents, make new connections or find time to build on familiar relationships. Walkers are also invited to bring family, friends and their leashed pets.
Several community members helped create the walk, including Dr. Roger Pecina, known at Mahogany Outfitters for the Monday night cruise-ins, which began June 4. Others include Peg Stone, Leonard Kanczuzewski, Commissioner Ron Francis, Bob DuComb, Robert and Jamie George, Monica Kennedy, Terri Wyman, Terry Wright and John Krager.
Two additional walks are tentatively planned for Aug. 18 and Sept. 1.
