The Dowagiac Lions Club met Wednesday to elect officers for the next year and name its Lion of the Year. The club also recognized its long-time members.

During the meeting, the club named Ron Behnke as president. The two vice presidents were absent, but were also named. Dave Daniels was selected as first vice president with Ivan Gwilt as second vice president.

Other officers named included Secretary Mike Yauchstetter, Treasurer Ned Sutherland, Lion Tamer Ron Ganger, Tail Twister Roger Jenison and clubhouse manager John Meiser.
Meiser was also awarded the Lion of the Year.

Long-time member Herb Anderson, who turned 96 in June, was recognized for serving 55 years in the club.
