Luz (Pires) Baigorria, 83
Luz Alba (Pires) Baigorria, 83, of Niles, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Entre Rios, Argentina, to the late Vincente and Louisa (Rodriguez) Pires.
On May 11, 1962, Luz married Luis Alberto Baigorria in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A few years later, the couple moved their family to the United States and shortly after, made Niles their home. She was a dedicated homemaker, not only in her own home but to many others as well. Luz Alba, whose name means “light of the dawn,” was just that — she lit up a room wherever she went. A caregiver to many, Luz was always doing and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Luz is survived by her husband, Luis A. Baigorria Sr., of Niles; two sons, Luis Jr. (Julie) Baigorria, of Lake Zurich, Ill., Daniel Baigorria Sr., of Niles; a daughter, Amy (Shawn) Baigorria-Rembold, of South Bend; five grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Anthony, Alexa, Aidan and Jessica; and two sisters, Ethel Pires–Desindes, of San Martin, Argentina, and Iris Pires-Baigorria, of Niles.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, July 7, at Brown Funeral Home with funeral services at noon. A private committal service will be held at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made in Luz’s memory to Hospice at Home Inc. 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
