Supt. John Jarpe: Fifty years of Bobcat grads
Published 4:44 pm Wednesday, July 4, 2012
The first senior class to graduate from Brandywine Senior High School was the Class of 1963.
Those first Bobcats will have their 50th reunion in the summer of 2013.
They would like to meet and enjoy each other’s company and reminisce about those early Brandywine days on the weekend of Aug. 2-4, 2013.
They want to include other Brandywine graduates in the fun as well.
We are now planning a series of events for Brandywine alumni and families to honor the 50 years and more the school district has educated students of this community.
The first event to honor the 50 years will be at our home football game of Aug. 30, 2012.
We want to bring back former players, band members and cheerleaders, give people a chance to visit the school and share memories with each other.
Most of all, we want to keep giving people opportunities to reconnect. We want to do the same thing at a home basketball game, and will announce that date soon.
In order to make this commemorative year the best, we can use some help from everyone:
If you know Brandywine grads that might want to come back and see friends and visit the school, tell them those two dates:
• Football game, Aug. 30, 2012
• Big Reunion Weekend, Aug. 2-4, 2013
We will have more details about these two events and other celebrations in the newspapers and on our website, www.brandywinebobcats.org.
You can also give me the names and contact information for Brandywine alumni so we can invite them, keep them informed and thank them for being a part of a great little school district.
Also, if you have scrapbooks and memorabilia, etc. that you wouldn’t mind having on display for the football game in the cafeteria or library, please let us know that, too, by calling us at (269) 684-7150 or email me at jjarpe@brandywine bobcats.org.
I hope you can take part in the “Fifty Years Of Bobcats” commemoration. Go Cats!
