Henrik Garamszegi, 62, of Niles, died at 2:44 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1949, in Budapest, Hungary, to Henrik and Erzsebet (Kiss) Garamszegi, and completed his schooling in Hungary. He was a test driver for heavy truck manufacturers. He came to the United States in 1988, and to Niles in 2007.

On April 18, 1977, in Budpest, he married the former Anna Sofalvi, with whom he celebrated the 53rd anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes his wife, Anna Garamszegi; their daughter, Krisztina Varga, of Niles; grandchildren, Anthony Varga, and twins, Tiffany and Dominic Varga; and Henrik’s brother, Ambros Gauther, of Oscoda, Mich.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Henrik will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, by the Rev. David Otto, of the parish. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Contributions in memory of Henrik may be made to the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
