Niles glass fabrication company Tem-Pace announced on Monday the acquisition of Spec-Temp Glass, a competitor located in Antwerp, Ohio.
Kent Mawer, sales and marketing manager for Tem-Pace, said the acquisition would result in additional hiring at Tem-Pace, although he wouldn’t say how many new jobs would be created.
Tem-Pace employs about 100 people at its location at 1830 Terminal Rd. in Niles. Mawer said Spec-Temp also employs about 100 people.
Tem-Pace and Spec-Temp will remain at separate locations as the two companies join forces.
Mawer said the acquisition would allow Tem-Pace to improve its position in the market.
“We are going to be able to share product lines and processing times between the two (locations) so we can more efficiently serve the customer,” Mawer said.
Tem-Pace is an operating company of The Cypress Companies in Akron, Ohio.
Founded in 1987, Tem-Pace manufactures custom tempered glass and serves several markets, including recreational vehicle, truck cap, door and window, furniture, retail display and lighting.
Spec-Temp is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of glass products that serve a variety of end markets.
