School board should make room for citizens

I attended the Niles School Board meeting May 21. I am a citizen of Niles, a business owner and a parent of three children who attend a Niles school. I am also an ’83 graduate of the district. I was not allowed into this meeting. I was made to stand in the hallway, with approximately 50 other people, for the entire meeting. Those of us in the hallway had a hard time hearing what was happening.
As a concerned, taxpaying citizen, I think the board should be more accommodating and move these meetings to a building/room that can accommodate everyone who desires to participate. I was under the impression the public was invited.
I have been very pleased with my children’s teachers and the schools. I do believe the teachers are being treated very unfairly. We deserve a room to accommodate the meeting, and the teachers deserve a fair contract.
