K&M Machine-Fabricating Inc. in Cassopolis has announced the winners of its 2012 scholarship program.
Six students who are the children of K&M employees will be awarded the scholarship.
This year, K&M has increased its scholarship award from $1,500 to $2,000.
The students were required to meet several requirements in order to qualify. This includes being a child of a current K&M employee, as well as grade-point average and other requirements.
Of its six new recipients, two are Dowagiac Union High School seniors:
• Jeremy Juday, who is the son of Denise Juday (purchasing).  Jeremy plans to attend Southwestern Michigan College (SMC), where he will major in corrections, probation and parole.
• Taylor Meiser, who is the daughter of Bruce Meiser (welder). Taylor plans to attend Baker College where she will pursue a career as a veterinary technician.
Two of its recipients are Niles High School seniors:
• Twin brothers, Seth Purucker and Taylor Purucker, who are the stepsons of Jeff Smuda (machine shop supervisor). Seth will attend Michigan State University (MSU), where he will pursue a degree in engineering. Taylor will also attend MSU, where he will pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.
• Kirstin Kreiger, is a Watervliet High School senior. She is the daughter of Jacob Krieger (welder). Kirstin plans to attend Roosevelt University in Chicago, where she will pursue a degree in osteopathic medicine.
• Evan Ramer is a Colon High School senior, and he is the son of Andrew Ramer (CNC machinist). Evan plans to attend Olivet College as a student-athlete, playing on their football team. He will pursue a degree in sports management.
Each of these students will receive a $2,000 scholarship, which is renewable for three additional years if they continue to meet the program requirements.
The five 2011 scholarship recipients who are eligible for renewal of their scholarships are:
• Cari Gassett, who is currently attending SMC and pursuing a degree in psychology. She is the daughter of Robert Marti (maintenance department).
• Jacob Griesbaum, who is currently attending Valparaiso University and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of John Griesbaum (quality).
• Stephanie Reilly, who is currently attending SMC, where she is pursuing a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Dennis Reilly (purchasing).
• Karlee Rife, who is currently attending SMC and pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Lorri Rife (accounting).
• Sarah Streeter, who is currently attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she is pursuing a degree in graphic design. She is the daughter of John Streeter (process improvement engineer).
Each of these students is also eligible for the award of $2,000, if they continue to meet the program requirements.
