Dennis Gene Hatch, 64, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully in his home with family at his bedside Friday, May 18, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. after a courageous battle with cancer for 16 years.

Dennis was born Feb. 13, 1948, in Niles to the late Stanley and Mary (McCutchen) Hatch.

He wed the love of his life Debra (Fedore) Hatch on Sept. 22, 1984, at a ceremony in Niles.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Virgil Hatch.

Dennis is survived by his wife; four sons, Jeff (Melissa) Hatch of Dowagiac, Jason (Marilyn) Duval of Niles, Mike Hatch of Edwardsburg and Ryan (Karen) Duval of Niles; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Hatch, Jared Hatch, Lauryn Hatch, Jaklyn Hatch, Tobin Hatch, Brady Duval, Bethany Duval, Sydney Hatch, Madison Duval, Blayn Duval, Jake Albright and Mikeala Freeman; three brothers, Bernie (Diane) Hatch of Dowagiac, Robert (Terrie) Hatch of Niles, Pete (Sharon) Hatch of Hollister, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Hatch of Niles.

Denny lived a rich and fulfilling life and doted on every one of his grandchildren. Family and good friends were the root of his well-being. In keeping with Denny’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a private service held at a later time to honor his life. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with medical expenses that have accumulated throughout his fight with cancer.
