Southwest Michigan’s Design Guild’s Spring Fever hits 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the  Whittaker Golf Course in New Buffalo and will celebrate the changing seasons with dinner, dancing, entertainment and a live auction. Proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and Benton Harbor.

“We’re going to have an extra special spring event,” said Suellen Long, who co-chairs the planning committee with Cary Frank and John Cannon. “We’re going to have a wonderful live auction,and dancing and dinner.  Some of the live auction prizes are really wonderful.”

One of the auction items features Chef Joho, known for the Everest Room and the Paris Club, both located in Chicago, who will cook and serve a dinner with personally selected wines. After dinner, guests can gather around the fire pit for after-dinner drinks.

“Chef Joho is offering to cook a dinner for 10 at his home in Michigan,” Long said.

Another auction gem is a Lost Dunes Country Club golf package, which includes overnight accommodations, dinner and golf for two foursomes.

“Lost Dunes is really one of the pre-eminent golf courses in the Midwest,” Long said.

Acting as Mistress of Ceremonies is comedienne Roxy Bellows.  She will entertain and also act as emcee and auctioneer.

“She is all about impromptu,” Cannon said. “She talks to the audience.  She’s very interactive and very energetic.  She’s a lot of fun.”

The Morgan Engle Band will provide the evening’s music.

“It’s going to be light dance music,” Cannon said, “a little pop, a little modern, a little vintage — a little bit of everything, a good mix.”

Dinner will be comprised of four food stations: seafood, beef tenderloin, pasta, and dessert.  Seats will be assigned. Dress is casual.
