Niles senior Maureen Craig will continue her education and basketball career at Carroll University in Wisconsin.
Carroll is an NCAA Division 3 school located in Waukesha, Wis. and plays in the Midwest Conference.
Craig, who earned Detroit Free Press All-State honorable mention recognition this past year in Class B, is the Vikings’ all-time leader in 3-point baskets made for both a single season and career.
As a junior, Craig made 77 3-pointers, which was the best in the state of Michigan.
She is a three-time first team All-Big 16 West Division pick. She was also named by the Free Press’ Mick McCabe as a preseason top 50 player in the state.
During her four-year career, Niles went 60-32 with one division and two district championships. Niles reached the regional finals twice during her tenure.
She has earned 12 varsity letters — four in cross country, four in basketball, two in softball and two in track.
She is a National Honor Society member, a class officer, and treasurer of the Ronald McDonald House teen board. She also works as a lifeguard at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA and Orchard Hills Country Club.
She is the reigning Miss Niles.
Maureen is the daughter of Jim and Roberta Craig.
