V. Margaret Rushton, 90, of Rome, N.Y., passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side.

She was born on June 18, 1921, in Stourport-on-Serven, England, the daughter of Leonard and Sarah Jones Lashford.

On Oct. 30, 1943, Margaret was united in marriage to Wilfred M. “Mark” Rushton in Stourport-on-Serven, England. Mr. Rushton passed away March 30, 2007.

Margaret was employed by National Standard Wire Co. in Kidderminster, England.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Rosanne Rushton, of Rome; three grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Rushton, of Rome, James (Amy) Rushton, of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Nicole (Mike) Rahmer, of Taijeras, N.M.; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jack, Ethan, and Gianna; and two nephews, Paul Lashford and Stewart Lashford.  Margaret was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Lashford.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.

Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, May 29,  from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
