A 15-year Cass County 4-H leader and nine-year Cass County 4-H leader each received the honor of a lifetime Monday evening.
Joyce Peterson Miller and Lori Ray were named the Outstanding Leaders of the Year during the 2012 Cass County 4-H Senior & Leader Awards Program held at Ross Beatty High School.
Miller, a 15-year leader, was described as “the energizer bunny when it comes to the Cass County Fair.” A former 4-H member, Miller has helped with just about every fundraiser or club activity in 4-H.
Ray, who is starting her ninth year as a leader with the Sleepy Hollow 4-H Club, was described as a “very talented and concerned leader” who “is also very handy with a hammer.”
Both received a standing ovation and special plates as recognition for their efforts.
Cassopolis 4-H seniors Rachael Kidman and Ashley Rogers were recipients of the Leader Association’s Scholarship.
Senior Thomas Keene and Rogers were winners of the Danforth Award, which goes to the club’s emerging leaders.
