Ronald
Bass, 50
Born: Dec. 2, 1961
Died: April 9, 2012

Ronald E. Bass, 50, died suddenly of natural causes, Monday, April 9, 2012, in his residence in Cassopolis.

Ron Bass

He was born in Niles on Dec. 2, 1961, to Milan and Martha JoAnne (Simpson) Bass.  He married Ruby Boehm in Cassopolis on Dec. 5, 2009.  He was preceded in death by his father, Milan “Mike” Bass, and one brother, Milan Anthony “Tony” Bass.
Ron was the Department of Public Works superintendent for the Village of Cassopolis. He could often be seen driving his beloved Thunderbird around town, unless it looked like rain, when he would hurry to get it back into the garage to keep it spotless. He coached junior high wrestling and junior high football for Cassopolis Public Schools. He loved children and was very much a family man. Ron would often support the underdog, just to be humorous, except when it came to being a Raiders fan. The family could hear him rooting them on from his “man cave.” His pitbull, Snoop, is still looking for him.
Ron was very generous and giving, reaching into his own pocket to help, whether people in the community, the young people he coached or “anybody.”
He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Boehm) Bass, of Cassopolis; two daughters, Fiona M. Plummer of Cassopolis and Brittany Musgrove of Kalamazoo; seven sons, Ronald E. Sorsby of Covington, Ga., Stacy (Jackie) Turpin of Columbus, Ohio, Marcus A. Bass of Vicksburg, Miss., Glenn D. Boehm of Kalamazoo, Robert T. Plummer of Elkhart, Christopher L. Plummer of Niles, and Ronald Austin of Ormond, Fla.; seven grandchildren; his mother, M. JoAnne Bass of Cassopolis; one sister, Milana R. Bass of Cassopolis; one brother, Robert L. (Tanji) Bass of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather Friday, April 13, from 4 until 8 p.m. in the gymnasium of Ross Beatty Junior/Senior High School, 22721 Diamond Cove St. (east of M-62).  Funeral services will be Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium with the Elder David Johnson, pastor, Christ Temple Church, Cassopolis, officiating. Mr. Bass will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis near his father, Milan Bass.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Cassopolis Public Schools, Junior High Wrestling Program or Junior High Football Program, 22721 Diamond Cove St., Cassopolis, MI 49031 or Christ Temple Church, 305 N. Second St., Cassopolis, MI 49031.
