Donald Taylor, Sr., 57
Dec. 18, 1954 — March 27, 2012

Donald Ray Taylor, Sr., 57, of South Bend, who began his journey on Dec. 18, 1954, went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2012.

Donald was born in South Bend, to the late Homer and Josephine (Seats) Taylor.

After graduating from high school, Donald went on to get his associate degree in blueprinting. He then met and married Ernestine Cherry on Dec. 1, 1980, at a ceremony in Niles.

Donald enjoyed bowling and was quite successful, even winning a competition in Reno. He loved all types of music and some of his favorite times were spending the evening out with Earnestine listening to live music. Donald was fun to be around and was known for his sense of humor. Those who knew Donald knew he was still a kid at heart and could be found playing his favorite video games, like John Madden football.

Preceding Donald are his parents, Homer and Josephine Taylor; a brother Richard Taylor; and one sister, Diana Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Taylor of South Bend; two sons, Donald Taylor, II of Niles,  Shawn Taylor of Mishawaka; his two daughters, Tanisha (Russel) Watts-Clark of Marion, Ind. and Debra Taylor of Kalamazoo; three brothers, Malcolm Taylor of St. Louis, Mo., Wildray Taylor and Charles Taylor, both of Niles; and one sister, Carolyn Taylor of Benton Harbor; and four grandchildren.

Services for Donald will be Monday, April 2, with the visitation at noon and service at 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St. in Niles.
