CASSOPOLIS — Lakeside Parlor at Diamond Lake Golf Club, 22041 M-60 East, across from Porky’s, opens in April.
Co-owner Lori Whitmyer introduced herself to the Cass County Board of Commissioners Thursday night.
Whitmyer, who operates West Michigan Drug Testing in downtown Cassopolis, is doing this venture with Karen Smoots.
Growing up on Pokagon Highway, they were the Collins sisters.
Lakeside Parlor will feature Ashby’s Sterling hand-dipped ice cream made in Sterling Heights in 20 flavors, including Eskimo kisses (coconut with fudge), triple caramel praline (pecans), blue moon, Milky Way bars, peanut butter brownie, Amaretto cherry, Superman, black raspberry pomegranate sorbet and black raspberry.
Whitmyer said Lakeside Parlor wants to partner with local organizations, FFA and school clubs, Little Leagues and other groups.
“We are committed to helping the community in more ways than just serving ice cream,” she said.
For a designated time, Lakeside Parlor will donate 35 percent of proceeds.
For example, if total sales from ice cream amounted to $500 from fundraiser guests in two hours, the business donates $175 back to the organization.
Whitmyer said it will seat 25 inside, plus outdoor seating.
