State Rep. Matt Lori, R-Constantine, has announced that he will be seeking his third and final two-year term in the House of Representatives. Lori filed his paperwork with the Elections Bureau Feb. 1.
Currently, Lori serves as the chairman of the House Appropriations sub-committee for Community Health, Majority vice chairman for the sub-committee on General Government and is a member of the sub-committee for Corrections.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue serving the residents of the 59th District,” Lori said. “I will continue to spend a lot of time in both counties communicating and listening. I believe citizens deserve accountable, efficient government and I will continue to fight for hardworking taxpayers.”
When re-elected, Lori’s district will be somewhat changed because redistricting will occur Jan. 1, 2013. Lori’s new 59th District in Cass County includes the City of Dowagiac and Wayne Township, but loses the Village of Edwardsburg, Ontwa and Milton townships. St Joseph County boundaries remain the same.
“Each term that I have served so far has brought changes and challenges. I look forward to meeting the new district residents to find long term realistic solutions for our state.”
Lori lives in Constantine and is married to Linda, and has two adult sons.
