St. Joseph County Library hosts Edible Book Festival

The St. Joseph County Public Library will host its second annual Edible Book Festival at 2 p.m. March 31.  This will be the kick-off event to this year’s One Book, One Michiana reading initiative.

Area food professionals are challenged to get creative and design a cake —or other edible treat — to highlight 2012’s community read,”The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Entries will be judged on originality, construction and how well they represent the theme.

Chef Brent Spring, chairman of the Hospitality Administration Program at Ivy Tech Community College, and Fox 28 morning anchor Courtney Ward will serve as judges.  Prizes will be awarded for best in show, people’s choice, most appetizing and most Sherlock Holmes-like and funnies/punniest.

Entries must be delivered and assembled in the cafe of the Main Library between 10 a.m. and noon March 31. For information, visit www.libraryforlife.org/edible-books/.
