Francis Daniel “Dan “ Rolfe, 64, of Marcellus, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 11, 2012, while vacationing in Florida with his wife, Kathy Rolfe.
Dan was born May 12, 1947, in Three Rivers. Dan graduated from Three Rivers High School and shortly after moved to Marcellus, where he managed A&P for several years. After A&P, Dan managed various Harding’s Markets in the area. Dan married his wife, Kathy Rolfe, on March 17, 1980. Dan and Kathy owned and operated K&D Market in Jones for 12 years. When the business was sold, Dan went to work for Cass County Public Transportation and retired from there last year.
Dan was an avid NASCAR, Notre Dame and Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends around the area.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Rolfe, of Texas and Mary Evelyn and Ken Norton, of Three Rivers.
Dan is survived by his son, Dan Rolfe (Twila Wertz), of Romeoville, Ill.; daughters, Jennifer (Ron) Hartline, of Marcellus, and Danelle (Luke) Searfoss, of Niles; his sister, Pat (Denny) Newcomer, of Jones, and his brother, Dean (Chris) Norton, of Mendon. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Lindsay and Connor Hartline, Austin and Brandon Jordon and Emily, Chloe, Hayden and Haleigh Searfoss. Dan is also survived by his three nieces, Amanda-Woods Osman, Melissa Norton-Draper and Jaime Norton- Spradlin, and many cousins.
Cremation will take place in Florida and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Marcellus. Questions may be directed to Danelle Searfoss at (269) 683-4095. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
