Beverly Jean Miller, 72, of White Street in Niles, died at 9:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., following a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1939, in South Bend to Valerian Bartholomew and Helen Marie (Keifer) Stedman Sr. She graduated from Niles High School in 1960 and lived here all of her life.
Beverly was a former employee of Omega Woodworking in Elkhart, Ind., and was previously employed at the former Paul Stephan Nursing Home (now West Woods of Niles). She was a member of the Pokagon United Methodist Church, and a member of TOPS 521, Niles.
She was first married to Richard Purucker. Later, on June 29, 1993, in Elkhart, she married Jack W. Miller, who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Val Stedman Jr., and a sister, Juanita Klotz.
Surviving family includes her children, Violet Greenfield and Thomas (and Lisa) Purucker, both of Niles; grandchildren Terri, Jessi, Luke Kurt, Christina, Tiffany, Brandon and Jarrod; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Beverly Jean Miller will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Pokagon United Methodist Church with Pastor Sean Kidd of the church officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Committal Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Ind.
Contributions in memory of Beverly may be made to Pokagon United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
