Eldon L. Gordon, 76, of Dowagiac, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his family,
following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 24, 1935, in Bald Knob, Ark., to William L. and Clara (Hart) Gordon.
On July 19, 1957, Eldon married the love of his life, Peggy Wright, in Hernando, Miss.
Eldon was retired from Tyler Refrigeration, where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed many nights of bowling with his co-workers from Tyler. He also liked gardening, going to the casino, watching westerns and mostly spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gregory Scot Gordon.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Peggy Gordon of Dowagiac; three daughters, Janice Henry of Niles, Diana Gordon of Altoona, Fla., and Kathleen (Raymond) Ornatowski of Edwardsburg; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Gordon; and a sister, Alice Marie Eligh, both of Arkansas.
A time of visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel 61453 M-51 in Niles, funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel.
