Theodore “Ted” James Berkey, 53, of Edwardsburg passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, after an unexpected illness at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

On Sept. 7, 1958 Ted was born to Bruce and Ellen (Pennycuff) Berkey in Elkhart, Ind.
He found great pleasure when he was riding on his Harley, fishing or listening to county music. However, Ted was happiest when he was surrounded by his family or friends.

He is preceded in passing by his father, Bruce Berkey.

Ted is survived by his son, Bruce Berkey of Edwardsburg; his mother, Ellen Elouise Berkey of Niles; two brothers, Michael “Louie” Lewis of Edwardsburg and Trevern Berkey of Granger, Ind.; three sisters, Melody (Tom) Vanzant of Niles, Fonda (Mike) Ford of Morganton, N.C. and Thelma (Brian) Schrader of Granger, Ind.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
