G. Eleanor Brown, 93, died Feb. 1, 2012 in the home she shared with her daughter in South Bend.

Eleanor was born Feb. 8, 1918, in the home of her parents, the late Frank H. and Edna (Kean) Miller of Buchanan, and lived in Buchanan for 79 years. Her only sibling, Mildred (Miller) Nespital, preceded her in death in 1994. Eleanor graduated from Buchanan High School in 1936, being voted by her classmates as “Best All Around,” and received her registered nurse degree from Epworth (Memorial) Hospital in 1940.

Eleanor worked for a time as a nurse at Memorial Hospital and later in the office of Dr. J. Colin Elliott in Buchanan. In October, 1941, she married Don F. Brown, an executive at Clark Equipment Co., who preceded her in death in 1976.  She is survived by her children, Donna Brown and Robert Brown, both of South Bend, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan at a later date.

Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
