Occupy Southwest Michigan will host another demonstration outside U.S. Rep. Fred Upton’s office at 800 Ship St. in St. Joseph 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The rally is in response to the second anniversary of the Citizens United vs. FEC Supreme Court decision that allowed for unlimited corporate spending on elections.
Organizers will announce a petition drive to put “corporate personhood” on the county ballot, according to organizer Matthew Rosenhagen of Niles.
“Corporate personhood” refers to court-created precedent that gives corporations the same constitutional rights as humans.
