Karon Joan Howard, 60, of Niles, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, of natural causes.

She was born July 23, 1951, in Niles, where she was a lifetime resident. Karon was a homemaker.

She married Robert Edward Howard on Dec. 26, 1970, in Niles. Robert survives in Niles.

Karon is also survived by a son, Glen (Angel) Howard of Niles; daughters, Roxane Howard of Kokomo, Ind., Tracy (Terry) Brooks of Niles, Bobbie (Guy) Carpenter of Dowagiac and Billie (Kevin) Batchlor of Mishawaka, Ind.; brothers, Kenneth (Sue) Williams of Niles and Dennis (Rae) Williams, Sr., of Niles; sisters, Sharon (Edward “Butch”) Wirick of Evart, Mich., Dortha Shoptaw of Niles and Tammie (Kevin) Chandler of Evart; seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Dortha Williams.

Memorial services for Karon Howard will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Word of Life Family Worship Center, 408 E. Harding St., Cassopolis.

Directions to the center: Take M-60 to Cassopolis; turn right at the pizza parlor; turn left at O’Keefe Street; turn right at Harding Street and the church will be on the right.
