Tina Louise (McGuffin) Abbott, 41, and Samantha Norine Abbott, 17, of Buchanan, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., due to injuries from a motor vehicle accident on Dec. 29, 2011.
Tina was born on February 25, 1970, to Dale Thomas and Dolly Norine (Rock) McGuffin in Port Huron. She was one of six children in the McGuffin household. At the age of 21, Tina wed the love of her life, Darryl Abbott, on Nov. 27, 1991, in Moriarty, N.M. Together, they had three children; Sarah, Samantha and Christopher.
Samantha Norine Abbott was born on Jan. 5, 1995. She was currently a junior at Buchanan High School.
Tina worked at Shady Oaks Farm Kennel. She was a dog lover and helped care for the many animals that were at the kennel. Samantha was a pet lover and had her heart set on becoming a k-9 police officer after she graduated from high school.
Tina and Samantha are preceded in death by Tina’s father, Dale Thomas McGuffin.
Tina is survived by her loving husband, Darryl Abbott, mother, Dolly McGuffin of Buchanan, children, Sarah and Christopher and siblings Patricia (Dan) Hosmer of Niles, Dale “Tommy” McGuffin Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., Katy (Scott) Stegeman of Kimberly, Wis., Lisa (Jerry) Allen of Santa Fe, N.M., and Jenny (Chip) Wickings of Chester, S.C. Samantha is also survived by her half-sister, Ashley Abbott of Moriarty, N.M., and Paternal Grandparents Alden “Boots” and Cindy Abbott of Moriarty.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services for Tina and Samantha will be held on Tuesday at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle, 945 Chippewa St., Buchanan, at 10 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. Tina and Samantha will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Brown Funeral Home or any Fifth Third Bank Location to the Tina and Samantha Abbott Memorial Fund to help the surviving family members.
