CASSOPOLIS — Cass County commissioners Thursday night approved no wage adjustments for elected officials in 2012 unless approved before Nov. 17.
Chair Minnie Warren, D-Pokagon Township, appointed a committee chaired by Robert Ziliak, R-Milton Township, to review salaries for 2013, when redistricting reduces the 15-member board back to seven, as approved in April.
Warren also named Robert Wagel, R-Wayne Township; Cathy Goodenough, R-Marcellus; Ed Goodman, R-Silver Creek Township; Charlie Arnold, R-Cassopolis; and Roseann Marchetti, R-Edwardsburg to the panel.
She asked that it report back its recommendation by the second week of March.
In other Dec. 1 business, commissioners amended budgets to reflect receipt of a $75,000 Family Drug Court Family Dependency Grant and an increased grant of $10,000 for the Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Initiative (MPRI).
MPRI is a collaborative between the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan Works Berrien-Cass-Van Buren with the goal of reducing recidivism rates for state prison parolees.
Cass was previously awarded $5,000 for this initiative, but secured $10,000 for 2012.
