The Four Flags Garden Club of Niles is searching for people who were extras in the filming of the 1991 film “Only the Lonely,” starring John Candy. The last scene was shot in Niles at the Amtrak Depot.
The Garden Club is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the depot lighting ceremony and would like to reunite anyone who appeared in the movie.
The first depot lighting took place for the filming of the movie in 1990. Contact Karen at (269) 684-2022 no later than Nov. 23.
This year’s depot lighting is scheduled for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
The Niles Depot, a historic site, is a sandstone building, constructed in 1881. It has also appeared in “The Continental Divide” with John Belushi and “Midnight Run” with Robert DeNiro.
