Mary Farmer

Mary Ella Farmer, of South Third Street, in Niles, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 9 in Marion, Ind., to Jake and Irene L. Hoff. She grew up in Kentucky and came to Niles in 1949. She retired from Simplicity Pattern Co. in 1985.
Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles and of VFW Post 1167 in South Bend. She enjoyed crochet, shopping, bingo and traveling throughout the U.S.
She was first married on Dec. 8, 1951, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Joseph F. Flynn, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1979. She was later married on Oct. 15, 1983, at St. Mary Catholic Church to Floyd Farmer, who survives.
Surviving family also includes her daughter, Tish Foret of Morgan City, La.; grandchildren, Jimi (Robert) Encalade, C.J. Foret, Jaron Foret and Joseph Foret; great-grandchildren, Madison Grace and Meagan Encalade; brother, James Hoff of St. Joseph; and sister, Joyce Hoff of Tennessee.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Hoff, and a brother, Sonny Hoff.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ella Farmer will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Niles, with the Rev. David Otto of the parish officiating.
Committal rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Niles.
The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
