Burnace L. King, 88, of Florence Avenue, Niles, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, unexpectedly, but of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Starke County, Ind., to Robert and Mary (Cochran) Anderson, and graduated from Grovertown High School. She lived in Niles since 1960 and was employed at the former Green Giant plant in Niles, retiring in 1973.
Burnace was a member of Fulkerson Park Baptist Church in Niles. She enjoyed reading novels and completing all forms of word puzzles. She also enjoyed camping at Cranberry Lake, Marcellus and dining out with friends.
On Feb. 19, 1947, in Walkerton, Ind., she married Kenneth R. King, with whom she celebrating 58 years of marriage prior to his death on Nov. 4, 2005. She was also preceded in death by their son, Jeffrey King, in 1958, and her brothers, Robert and John Anderson.
Surviving family includes her children, Barbara (Craig Ponne) King of Kentwood Mich., Mary Ann (Kenny) Lane of Niles, Glenna (William, Sr.) Johnson of Elkhart, Ind. and Ken (Brenda Winfield) King of Tishomingo, Miss.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Burnace L. King will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Fulkerson Park Baptist Church with Pastor Brian G. Hedges of the church officiating.
Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in North Liberty, Ind.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
