CASSOPOLIS — A Niles man caught in possession of methamphetamine is headed to jail.
Kaleb Reid was sentenced to a year in jail Friday in Cass County Circuit Court. He will receive credit for 57 days already served.
Prosecutor Victor Fitz pointed out that Reid, 25, already has 25 entries in his criminal record.
“He needs to get ahold of this dragon,” Fitz said. “He needs to get treatment for his drug problems.”
The offense occurred in August when a Michigan State Police officer pulled Reid over. Reid then threw some drug paraphernalia out his car window to hide the evidence. The officer found the paraphernalia, which included a glass pipe, a gram of meth and a syringe with meth residue on it.
For his part, Reid apologized.
“I really, really ask for some help … I want to stay off drugs,” he said.
