St. John’s United Church of Christ of Niles will participate in a “Mission: 1 project of the United Church of Christ.”
The goal of this project is to collect more than 1 million items of healthy food and other household items nationwide for local food banks during an 11-day period of time.
The United Church of Christ has identified Nov. 1-11 as the actual campaign dates. At the Oct. 14 fish fry at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 601 Sycamore, Niles, a collection barrel for food will be made available for anyone who would like to donate.
All items collected will remain in Niles for local food banks.
The church maintains a food barrel throughout the year and provides food for local food banks as well as the backpack program for the Headstart Program at Northside School.
