Brandywine runners fall short

The Brandywine Bobcats cross-country squad hosted a dual meet on Monday afternoon at “the swamp” with Berrien Springs and Bridgman, and had to settle for watching Bridgman dominate the day.
The Bobcats, who only have three runners left on their team, fell to Bridgman by the count of 15-45 for the boys, and 15-50 for the girls. The scores were much of the same against Berrien Springs as the boys would fall 18-43 and the girls would fall 15-49.
Bridgman would beat Berrien Springs 15-45 on the boys side, and 26-31 on the girls side.
The top finisher for Brandywine was Collin Mattiford who finished seventh with a time of 19:45.2, while Evan Zacharski finished 13th with a time of 22:56.5.
For the girls, Brandywine’s Allison Zacharski finished 13th with a time of 27:14.0, which was her best time of the year to date.
Bridgman dominated the boys event, placing the first five finishers, with Justin Kiewel leading the way at 18:13.3, followed closely by Jarret Anderson at 18:16.5.
Jessica Nave of Berrien Springs was the top female finisher (11th overall) coming in at 22:26.3, followed by Bridgman’s Kelly Ferguson at 23:04.5.
