Sarett Nature Center is located at 2300 Benton Center Rd., Benton Harbor. Trails are open from dawn to dusk every day. Building hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Call (269) 927-4832 or visit www.sarett.com.
Oct. 8
Sarret Nature Center’s annual County Fair will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of fun with activities for kids, Grandma’s Country Kitchen and a collectibles and rummage sale.
Oct. 12
Seniors (and all adults) are invited to join Sarett Nature Center Director Chuck Nelson on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for “Seniors and Nature.” This month’s topic will focus on trees. This is an inside class with an option for an outside walking or golf cart hike. The cost is $5 per person. Call (269) 927-4832 to register.
Oct. 15
Sarett Nature Center is hosting a Mystery Geocache Day on Saturday, Oct. 15. Come any time during operating hours to play. Detectives will search for the clue- containing caches to solve a mystery. Successful detectives will then receive the prize cache coordinates. Bring your own GPS unit or borrow one of Sarett’s. Cost is $3 for adults; children are free.
Oct. 16
Take a Fall Foliage Walk at Sarett Nature Center on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. Naturalists will describe identification clues such as leaves, bark and buds as you meander on the trails. Cost is $3 for adults; children are free.
Oct. 22
Join a Sarett Nature Center naturalist on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. for walks at two premier natural areas: Warren Woods and Kesling Preserve. The fee of $5 includes transportation from Sarett. Call (269) 927-4832 to register.
Oct. 29
Join Sarett Nature Center naturalist Mindy Walker on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. for a birding trip to Allegan state Game Area. The fee of $10 includes transportation from Sarett. Call (260) 927-4832 to register.
