PHOENIX — The former Bronco wide receiver Jamarko Simmons is an Arena Bowl Champion after he and the Jacksonville Sharks captured Arena Bowl XXIV, 73-70, over the Arizona Rattlers Saturday.

Simmons scored three times in the championship game and a fourth score come up one yard short just before halftime.

The Flint native first scored at the 2:54 mark of the second quarter to give Jacksonville a 32-21 lead.  Simmons scored on a one-yard run.  His second TD came through the air with 1:56 remaining in the third to bring his team to within four points, 42-38.

His final score came with 9:59 left in regulation from seven yards out on a pass, again bringing the Sharks within four points, 49-45.

Simmons ended the game with two carries for two yards and a TD, and four catches for 51 yards and two TDs.  He finished his first Arena Football League season with 25 touchdowns.

The Arena Bowl XXIV victory was the first for the Jacksonville Sharks organization and makes Simmons the fifth former Bronco to play and win an Arena Bowl championship.

Josh Bush is the only Bronco to ever play in an Arena Bowl and come up short, falling in 2007 while a member of the Columbus Destroyers.
