William W. “Bill” Mersch, 61, of Dowagiac, passed away on July 11, 2011, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1950, in Dowagiac, the son of Walter and Rita (Schorn) Mersch.

He graduated from Holy Maternity of Mary Elementary School and Dowagiac Union Schools.

Bill received his associate degree from Southwestern Michigan College.

He was employed by Rudy’s Manufacturing, Nylon Extruders, Thermocast and Behnke’s Paint Store.

Bill had an avid interest in railroading, both real and model, photography and fishing.

He is survived by his aunt Marie Schorn of Chicago and many friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Judy Weeks.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with burial to follow.
