MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Things continue to fall Team Michigan’s way at 2011 Sports Fest being held at Bethel College this week.

After going 3-0 on Monday night, Michigan picked up wins in softball (see related story), boys’ tennis, boys’ soccer and baseball.

Tennis and soccer both received forfeits from Indiana West. Michigan did defeat Indiana West 5-3 in an exhibition match.

On the diamond, Indiana West was no match for Michigan as Dowagiac’s Zach Hyatt and Ron Fancher of Constantine combined on a four-hitter in an 11-3 victory at Patterson Field.

After falling behind 1-0, Michigan scored twice in the second and four times in the third to open up a 6-1 lead on the Indiana West All-Stars.

Two more runs in the fifth and sixth turned the game into a rout. Indiana West added a pair of runs in the fourth, while Michigan capped the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh.

Dowagiac’s Jason Turner stroked a double to tie the game in the second inning and Jon Shembarger of Berrien Springs delivered the go-ahead run with a single.

Shembarger had two hits and two RBIs to pace Michigan. Turner finished with a pair of RBIs.
