Cynthia Kay Kendall, 70, of Buchanan, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind. of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 13, 1941 in South Bend. She was a lifetime area resident.
Cynthia was a teacher at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Niles for more than 30 years. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She married Leon Kendall on Sept. 20, 1969 in Niles. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Galen and Geraldine McCray.
Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Andrea Alan of Buchanan and Gail (James) Elben of Kalamazoo; brothers, Robert (Maxine) McCray of South Bend and Richard (Sharon) McCray; a sister, Karla (John) Lawton of Hancock, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Caileigh Alan, Allyssa Alan and Lacie Alan.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Niles with Father David Otto of the church officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Buchanan Public Library or the Buchanan Art Center.
