Ancilla College drops pair to Glen Oaks

CENTREVILLE — The Ancilla College softball team lost two Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference games at Glen Oaks Community College by scores of 6-5 and 16-8.

The Chargers (11-25, 1-21 MCCAA) built a 5-0 lead in game one behind RBI singles from Courtney Cain, Kaitlyn Dick, two RBI singles from Allison Chiles and a solo home run from Cassidy Hardesty before Glen Oaks (8-21, 4-16 MCCAA) scored three in the fifth and three in the sixth to preserve the victory.

The comeback went in the opposite direction in game two. Glen Oaks led 5-0 after two innings when Ancilla put up five runs in the top of the third to tie the game.

After RBI doubles from Hardesty and Gretchen Gieseking, Niles’ Demi Schrader belted a three-run home run to cap off the scoring.

The host Vikings dropped an eight spot in the bottom of the fourth before Ancilla came back with three more in the top of the fifth on a three-run home run from Kaitlyn Dreibelbis.

Glen Oaks finished the game in the bottom of the fifth with three more runs. The Vikings’ final 11 runs were unearned.
