Frances Mae Kennedy, 69, of Marion Junction, Ala., was called home to glory on April 7, 2011.
She was born to Linnie Coates-Kennedy and James Kennedy in Bogue Chitto, Ala. Frances resided in Vandalia from 1979 to 2000 with lifelong friend Betty Harris, who preceded her in death. She later relocated to her birthplace in Alabama.
She worked at Jefferson Smurfit Corp. (Per Pak) in Cassopolis for many years, where she made many friends. Frances also took a likeness in caring for the elderly and later became a nurse’s aide in 1980 at Cassopolis Medical Care Facility.
She leaves behind four children: one birth daughter, Natasha Kennedy-Davis (Jerry), daughter, Kanisha Bliss, and two sons, Kunta Bliss and Antonio Bliss; five grandchildren, Troy Kennedy, Turon Kennedy, Camiele Davis, Makayla Bliss and Levi Bliss; two life grandchildren, Arielle Christie and Lexi Christie; and two great-grandchildren, Kenyen Amar Xayasane-Kennedy and DeShaun Kennedy; one goddaughter, Cierra Sanders. Frances also leaves behind three brothers, Johnny Kennedy (Evelyn), Minister Cleveland Kennedy and James Kennedy; and her only sister, Erma Bradley (Leon).
Two brothers preceded her in death, Alfred Kennedy and Tommy Kennedy.
Frances has many special nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and a host of cousins in various states, and she loved them all.
Frances had a host of friends in her community, many of whom she knew as a child, and they all had a special place in her heart, in her life and in her stories.
Services will be held at Potter’s Place Church, 3000 Old Montgomery Highway, Selma, Ala. on Saturday at 1 p.m.
