Elizabeth “Betty” Furner, 95, of Buchanan, died at 2:47 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 of natural causes.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1915 in Scotts, Mich. to Clarence and Jean Schermerhorn.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
On June 10, 1936, she was married to Richard James Furner, who preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas C. (Carole) Furner of Buchanan, James R. (Sandy) Furner, Locust Grove, Va., Michael J. (Gayla) Furner, Niles, Patrick A. (Pauline) Furner, Berrien Springs; daughters Elizabeth J. (Hub) Hesseltine, Niles, Mary E. (Pierre) Weber, Jacksonville, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services for Elizabeth Furner will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Buchanan with the Rev. Thomas P. King C.S.C. of St. Mark Catholic Church in Niles.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at Home, Inc., 4017 Chamberlain Rd. Buchanan, MI 49107.
