Robert’s life began on April 29, 1939, in Dowagiac, the son of Russell and Mary (Murphy) Haley.
He was employed as a construction worker for many years in the area.
Robert loved to tinker with anything that had a motor and was known as “Mr. Wrench.”
In his younger years, he loved to go mud-bogging and enjoyed four- wheeling.
Robert, 71, of Dowagiac, loved his grandchildren and always took great interest in what they were doing.
His loving family includes: his son, Bobby (Laura) Haley of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Sarah and Shawn Haley of Dowagiac; two sisters, Laura Woolsey and Cinda Haley, both of Dowagiac; his friend and ex-wife, Barbara Haley-Fryman; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at The Timbers of Cass County.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; an infant son; sisters, Nora Ray, Lowetta Cooper, Lila Ondersma, Lois Burns and Carol Galbreath; and brothers, Daniel, Thomas and Donald Haley.
His family will gather with friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where the Rev. David Helmuth will lead a service at 1 p.m.
He will be laid to rest in Dewey Cemetery at a later date.
