Some on board not making decisions in best interest of school system

To the editor:
First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Max Sala and Mr. Larry Schmidt for their recent letters to the editor.
I would, however, like to add some comments of my own.
I would like to thank the three school board members who voted to hire Mr. Alward as the new wrestling coach and Larry Seurynck and Sheryl File for recognizing and acknowledging how this situation should be handled.
After reading the article and letters in the newspaper, it appears that certain members of this Board of Education have their own agenda and are not making decisions in the best interest of this school system.
Shame on you.
I can only imagine what Mr. Alward, our new Superintendent and Athletic Director are thinking regarding this school system.
Obviously, Mr. Alward was determined the best candidate for the job and should have the opportunity to be successful in that endeavor.
I would like to wish Mr. Alward and his family the best of luck since it is clear, that he, like others before him, will be coaching and teaching in another community real soon.
In the future, when our school system is unable to hire qualified teachers, coaches and administrators, just remember this situation and you will understand why.
The recent actions of certain members of this school board make me wonder when they were elected to the Dowagiac Board of Education, were they a choice?
Or were they elected because of a lack of options?
