Gail C. Danzy, 53, of Cassopolis, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Lakeland Medical Center, Niles.
She was born Oct. 19, 1956, in Fayetteville, N.C., to LeRoy and Velma (Ballard) Danzy.
She was a graduate of Cassopolis High School and Western Michigan University.
She was a home educator for 32 years with Tri-County Head Start.
Gail was a member of the Church of Cassopolis, serving as the food pantry coordinator, youth choir director and food ministry leader. She was also a leader of Calvin 4-H.
She is survived by: her mother, Velma Danzy of Cassopolis; three sisters, Gwenevere Danzy of Cassopolis, Leronna (Forrest) Saunders of Grand Rapids and Sondra Mose-Ursery of Elkhart, Ind.; two brothers, Vance (Crystal) Danzy of Casa Grande, Ariz., and James Glenn of Cassopolis; six goddaughters, Theresa Williams of Grand Rapids, Shyton Deans of Cassopolis, Caressa Burwell of Cassopolis, Emerald Burwell of Cassopolis, NaDonna (Jermaine) Taylor of Detroit and Jeano Turpin of Niles; four godsons, John Hunt of Elkhart Kylen Danzy of Cassopolis, Kondwani Beathea of Cassopolis and Harvey Kernslong II of Upper Marlborough, Md.; two nieces, Sudan Saunders and Lazurea Saunders; and one nephew, Kulawnie Saunders, all of Grand Rapids; 17 god-grandchildren; seven god-nieces; six god-nephews; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and godchildren.
Homegoing celebration was at 1 p.m. Oct. 23, at the Church of Cassopolis, 520 Pearl St., Cassopolis. Interment followed in Calvin Township Cemetery.
